Tommy’s Basic Bolognaise and Simple Spag

Thanks to the University of Strathclyde student Tommy, here’s his recipe from the video so you can make the yummy Italian-inspired recipe yourself – voila!


Serves: 4
Ready in an hour.
Full of goodness!
Moderately easy to cook.

• 500g pack lean steak mince
• 1 tbsp oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• Garlic, crushed
• Peppers, sliced
• Mushrooms, sliced
• 2 can chopped tomatoes
• Tomato puree
• Spaghetti
• Italian herbs (oregano, basil), paprika and seasoning

1. Heat oil in a large pan. Add onion and cook for a few minutes, then add the mince and stir well, browning it off. Once it’s fully browned, add all the other veg and cook for about 5 minutes.
2. Add all the herbs, paprika and seasoning, then stir in the pesto, chopped tomatoes and a good squeeze of tomato puree. Bring to the boil then simmer for 20 minutes.
3. Meanwhile cook your spaghetti in a pan of boiling water – drain, then serve with your bolognaise sauce. Hey presto: Basic bolognaise with spag!
