Blue Cheese Steak Sandwich

Here’s the recipe from the Haggle Challenge video – it sounded pretty good! Becky and Steph managed to the the ingredients for a right bargain – see if you can do as good as them when you go shopping! Oh, and here’s a tip: for extra punch, spread some chutney over the steaks before adding the cheese – adds extra sauciness!


Serves: 1
Prep time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 10 mins

• 2 thin fillet steaks
• Big fat bread roll/baguette/ciabatta
• 50g blue cheese
• Oil
• 1 onion, thinly sliced
• Lettuce, tomato and any other salad ingredients

1. Preheat the grill to high. Brush the steaks with a little oil, season and put on a baking tray. Grill for 4 mins, turning once, until cooked to your liking.
2. Heat some oil in a frying pan and gently fry the onion slices for a good 5-7 mins or until softened.
3. Divide the blue cheese between the steaks. Grill for 30 seconds until the cheese is bubbling and golden. Set steaks aside to rest for 2 mins.
4. Meanwhile, prepare a nice side salad to go with your sandwich. You might want to also toast your bread of choice…then serve your steak inside to make a sandwich and enjoy with your healthy salad!
